Manhole covers and frames 600mm
The design of the manhole top (cover and frame) shall be odourtight. The manhole top shall not vibrate and generate noise when subjected to vehicular traffic. It shall also be provided with a mechanism to lock the cover onto the frame to prevent the opening of the frame due to water pressure resulting from the manhole. The manhole tops supplied shall be clearly cast and free from air holes, sand holes and any other defects. All items shall be free from any voids that may result from shrinkage, gas inclusion or any other cause. Furthermore all covers and frames shall be neatly dressed and carefully fettled.
The cover shall be of the hinged type, removable when in a vertical position, and self centred on its frame.
