The implementation of the Net Zero Impact Utility project by the Water Services Corporation is proceeding at a fast pace and as part of this effort a further EUR 11m including VAT worth of tenders will soon be contracted. Some of these are already on the market and the rest will be issued over the next few weeks.

 

In terms of new water, the projects include a EUR 1m Horizontal Drilling (HDD) project in the North of Malta and over EUR 2.5m worth of new water network trenching in Gozo. Major sewage upgrades are also in the pipeline totaling EUR 3.5m. These will involve works in Marsa, Ta’ Xbiex and Msida. Another Eur 1m worth of work involves the laying of further potable mains in the outskirts of Qrendi, Siggiewi and Zebbug. The other Eur 3m relate to various supplies ranging from pumps, electrical switch gears, fittings, and other equipment.

 

Also, as part of this unprecedented investment, EUR 20m worth of contracts have been signed over the past weeks. These projects include substantial additional investment in the new water system, further upgrades of the sewage networks, and around EUR 3m worth of wastewater monitoring stations which are expected to be a game changer in the Corporation’s mission to safeguard its sewage network and treatment plants.
