As part of its ‘Net Zero Impact Utility’ Project the Water Services Corporation is set to invest an initial EUR 4million of EU funded money in latest sewage treatment technology.
This technology allows for the easy retrofitting of existing plants. Retrofitting existing plants will result in better treatment performance and in a significant reduction in associated smell, chemical and energy usage. The technology will provide the Corporation with a more flexible and resilient sewage treatment portfolio. Its current plants will therefore function in a more efficient manner
The improved treatment capacity will also present new opportunities in terms of new water production.
This project is part of a bigger strategy through which the Corporation will be investing around EUR 35m in sewage infrastructure upgrades.
Once again it is very important to understand that the sewage system is very complex and delicate and that such infrastructure is damaged through the improper use of the urban sewer. It is therefore fundamental that only human toilet waste and degradable toilet paper are discharged in the system.
Any suspected foul play or problems with the sewer can be reported to the Corporation on Freephone: 8007 6400; Email: customercare@wsc.com.mt; Website live chat: www.wsc.com.mt; or through our social media. The full tender document can be accessed at https://www.wsc.com.mt/tenders/ and bids close on 27 September 2018.
